Lowick Green is a small
hamlet 7 miles north of the market town of Ulverston and 3 miles south of Coniston
Water. There are 3 pubs serving meals within a mile or so, there are good
local village shops at Greenodd 2 miles down the road, while Ulverston itself
has a larger selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. Outdoor activities for all
tastes are catered for throughout the district. We have easy access to the
fells and crags, while mountain bikes, horses, canoes, rowing boats, dinghies
and windsurfers are all available for hire in the vicinity Our disabled guests have never lacked things to do and see. Most of the attractions throughout the region have appropriate access facilities. Grizedale forest for example, with its famous sculpture trail is only about six miles off, and has a specially designed trail for disabled visitors. Car users will find all of the Lakes famous beauty
spots within easy reach. Windermere’s steamers are 10 minutes drive. Barrow
with its shipbuilding heritage is 20 minutes away. The ancient market town of
Kendal is a 40 minute run, and Lancaster, the former county town of Furness,
can be reached in under an hour. |
