Bark Cottage is a self contained two bedroom apartment, comprising the whole of
the bottom floor of what used to be the barn of the old Lowick Tannery. The
barn has now been converted on three floors, and the owners, Joe Fairclough
and Jenny Tancock, live above and are normally on hand to help you at any
time. |
There are records of
Tanning on the site going back to the 17th century, and the barn
itself is believed to be about 200 years old. The building is set in a small
cluster of houses, 100m down a country track off the main road to Coniston.
The stream which used to power machinery in the tannery runs alongside the
drive, which has parking for 2 cars . (Give the plan below at
least 30 seconds to load) |
The apartment is suitable
for both able-bodied and disabled guests. It is approached from the drive
down a wide ramp through the front
patio area. External doors are 1m wide. All internal doors except bathroom 1
are 90cm to allow wheelchair access throughout the apartment. There are no
steps at all. |
